'Disgusting' - Man United fans fuming as Moussa Sissoko appears to stamp on Daniel James

Tottenham are taking on Manchester United in their second International Champions Cup game in Shanghai.

The two Premier League sides went head-to-head in the Hongkou Stadium ahead of the start of the Premier League season in little over two weeks' time.

The pre-season competition acts as a high-tempo, high-quality tournament ahead of the domestic campaign, pitting the top sides in European football against one another.

Out in China, Manchester United took the lead through Anthony Martial in the first half, with Spurs keeper Paulo Gazzaniga beaten at his near post.

But there was another moment in the first period that caught the eye, and left the United fans outraged.

New signing Daniel James had the ball down by the corner, and Spurs midfielder Moussa Sissoko came in and gave him a proper welcome to the Premier League with a crunching tackle.

But it was not that that caused problems, it was what happened in the aftermath as Sissoko appeared to stamp on James as he writhed on the floor.

It may have been accidental, of course, as Sissoko attempted to turn away with the ball, not knowing where his opponent was, but it was not spotted by the referee.

And in the Premier League next season, with VAR, it is sure to be picked up and would have resulted in a three-game ban.

The incident was not missed by the Untied fans watching online.

The Tottenham supporters will be hoping there is no retrospective action from it.
