Disgusted mum warns parents after son covered in 'something sticky' from slide

A mum was outraged when her son appeared covered in "something sticky" after playing on a slide at the park.

Tina Edwards was looking forward to spending the afternoon with her son at the park where they were met with dirty play equipment and rubbish everywhere.

The parent branded the site an "absolute disgrace" after the youngster returned with an unknown sticky substance on his legs.

Tina told how the park has gone downhill following efforts to keep it clean and tidy and warned parents to be careful.

"It's always like that these days. It was all lovely, with bins put on there," she told the Liverpool Echo.

"But recently the bins are being emptied out on the floor and the slides are covered in something sticky.

"My son couldn't even slide down, it was all over his legs.

"There was a gang of kids there, all getting rough with one another. They were friends but it was getting rough.

"I had to shout at them to stop, my little boy was watching."

Tina said more needs to be done to ensure the park is kept clean for all to enjoy, whether through patrols or CCTV.

She also shared an important message to people to "keep an eye out" and to "respect" their area.

"I wouldn't let my lad out to the park on his own. It's sad," she continued.

"Respect where you live, we've all got to live here. My lad would never leave rubbish, he's not allowed to.

"If he has any litter, he puts it in his pocket until he gets home. If you see rubbish, pick it up and dispose of it properly."

Taking her frustrations to Facebook, Tina said it was an "absolute disgrace" and urged for children to be "respectful".

The post brought in many comments about the "disgusting mess."

"It's constantly like this. Kids shouldn't be suffering because older kids have no morals or better place to be," one person saidd.

"Cleaning up after other people's kids just to let our kids play. I've been round that park a couple of times with a bag picking up rubbish so my daughter can play. It's horrible."

The Mirror Online has contacted the City of LiverpoolCouncil for comment.
