A mum has told of her horror at finding what she claimed looked like a mouldy skin peel in the empty Lidl carton of orange juice that she and her family had consumed on Christmas Day.
Aoife Ni Mhuiri, from Dublin, said she cut open the carton to see why it was so heavy, to find what looked like a peel rotting on the inside, the Irish Mirror reports .
On Christmas morning, she had poured glasses of orange juice for herself, her husband and their one-year-old child but said they all felt "unwell" for two days after drinking it.
She later wondered why the empty orange juice carton still felt heavy after they had finished the juice inside and made the grim discovery when she cut it open.

A picture of the open carton shows a large quantity of an unidentified green and yellow substance on the inside.
Another picture shows the expiration date on the orange juice which was not until May 2022.
Aoife told the Irish Mirror the mould looked like “a cross between cardboard and skin peel”.
Even days later she still “couldn’t bring herself to touch it”, she said.
After making the discovery, she contacted Lidl’s customer service over Twitter on December 27.
She wrote: “@lidl_ireland I couldn’t understand why the carton was still heavy when it was empty… please tell me who I should contact.”
In a follow up message on January 2, she wrote: “I honestly still don’t know what it is. I can’t bring myself to actually touch it but it looks like a cross between cardboard and skin peel.
“There’s mould all over it. My husband, 1 year [old] and I all drank it on Christmas morning and felt very unwell for the following two days.”
The Mirror contacted Lidl Ireland who said it is investigating the complaint.
