Disgraceful video shows Grafton Street going wild as Dublin revellers party just hours before Level 5 lockdown

Grafton Street was last night the scene of a massive party as revellers danced without any regards for social distancing in the shadow of the new Covid lockdown.

As Dublin's under-pressure small businesses reluctantly pulled down the shutters for another six weeks in a bid to beat COVID, punters danced to a busker’s version of Free from Desire on the city's busiest shopping street.

The outdoor party was filmed in the dying hours before Ireland went to Level 5 lockdown - the Government’s most severe measure in the fight against COVID.

A disappointed man who shared the video wrote on Facebook: "It saddens me that our salon and many other small businesses have to close our doors for the second time and this pack of pr***s are doing this."

Dublin Live last night contacted gardai for a comment on the massive street party.

Several videos began doing the rounds on various social media platforms over the course of the past 12 hours.

Some of those partying on Grafton Street were wearing face masks - however, a large proportion of the boisterous crowd appeared not to be in several videos seen by Dublin Live.
