Hospitals are milking a fortune from loyal staff in parking fees.
Last year NHS trusts collected £90 million from nurses, doctors, porters and other key workers, plus £199m from patients and visitors.
Rachel Harrison, national officer for the GMB Union, said: “Charging loyal NHS staff to park is a national disgrace.
"Cuts caused untold damage to the NHS, but pinching cash back from people we rely on to keep us alive is not the answer.
“Ministers must scrap hospital staff parking charges at once.”
An average NHS employee shells out around £350 per year to park.
Manchester University NHS Trust collected the most at £3.2million.
Its hospitals include Manchester Royal Infirmary, Trafford General and North Manchester General.
Trusts in Birmingham, London, Liverpool, Newcastle and Cambridge were among the 24 to make more than £1million from staff parking charges.
At Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust in Surrey, employees must now pay more than £500 for an annual pass.
When Covid struck the then Health Secretary Matt Hancock vowed to scrap charges in England for parking, but fees have returned.
Manchester University Trust did not respond when asked to comment.
