Ofgem staff have shared a bonus pot of more than £1million, as households prepare to face huge hike in energy bills.
The reward was £150,000 more than the previous year, according to the watchdog’s latest annual report.
Chief executive Jonathan Brearley, who earned more than £300,000 in pay and perks, picked up £15,000.
It comes as Ofgem prepares to allow suppliers to hit households with the biggest energy price hikes in a decade – of up to 13%.
Mr Brearley said customers could pay £150 more a year after it raises its price cap for 15 million households on certain tariffs, as reported in the Mirror yesterday.

Campaign group We Own It branded the bonuses a “disgrace”.
Director Cat Hobbs said: “At a time when millions are facing fuel poverty after yet another price cap hike, it is in poor taste that Ofgem can find tens of thousands of pounds for bosses, on top of already large salaries.”
Last year’s £1m bonus was shared by 777 workers, giving them an average of £1,300 each, according to the regulator’s latest annual report.
