Arsenal fans have been reacting on social media after Lucas Torreira was stretched off against Portsmouth.
Torreira was included in Mikel Arteta's side for the fifth round clash at Fratton Park on Monday night - his first appearance since coming on in the 2-2 draw with Chelsea towards the end of January.
But the midfielder saw his evening brought to an abrupt end after just 14 minutes on the south coast.
The 24-year-old was on the receiving end of a tackle that was fair but very strong from Pompey's James Bolton.
Torreira was given oxygen following the challenge and taken away for treatment with Dani Ceballos replacing him.
The full extent of his injury is not yet known, with BT Sport stating during the match that the Uruguayan had been taken to an ambulance and given a preliminary examination.
However, they later added that he would not be taken for hospital, likely meaning he will have a scan on the injury tomorrow where the full extent will be revealed.
Torreira has made 33 appearances in all competitions so far this season, but has found regular game time hard to come by under Arteta in recent weeks.
Arteta’s side return to Premier League action this weekend when they take on West Ham United at the Emirates Stadium.
