'Disgrace!' - Arsenal fans agree with Steve McManaman's brutal comment in Man City clash

Arsenal got off to the worst possible start away to Manchester City in their Premier League clash.

The Gunners went into the daunting clash at the Etihad looking to pick up their first league points of the 2021/22 season, having tasted back-to-back 2-0 defeats to Chelsea and newcomers Brentford.

But after just 12 minutes of their clash in the north west, Mikel Arteta's men were already trailing by that same scoreline.

Ilkay Gundogan somehow had a free header inside the six-yard box which he duly dispatched after seven minutes, before Ferran Torres doubled the lead just five minutes later with a simple tap-in from close range.

After a poor start to their league campaign, pressure is already on Mikel Arteta to pick up points - and Arsenal fans again were left seething after their early showing.

It wasn't just the fans criticising the Gunners.

As highlighted by Twitter account @afcstuff, BT Sport co-commentator Steve McMananam - after the second goal - gave a brutal verdict on Arsenal's showing.

"They've [Man City] scored two goals without even trying," he said.

And it's something that Arsenal fans could only agree with. Here's what was said on Twitter.

@og_6629: Very true

@newdays76: Exactly it’s not an Arteta issue the players don’t deserve that shirt pathetic

@ElyzabethSB: And, that's the truth.

@AlexMuster: Just look at those defenders, no one of them can deal with the easiest of crosses, they are just so so bad and it‘s so heartbreaking that everyone knows it but they still play for us

@daneafc91: Every single week teams do nothing and beat us

@Sukio05051557: the problem is we also do nothing

@Sumobeerman: The back five are a disgrace

Things got worse for Arsenal 10 minutes before the break as Granit Xhaka was shown a straight red card for a two-footed challenge before Gabriel Jesus made it 3-0 after 43 minutes.
