Disenchanted star Maya Rudolph takes in Ireland's Eye on her day off

It's a village fit for princes and princesses.

Enniskerry, in Co Wicklow, was sprinkled with stardust as filming for Disney's Disenchanted got under way on Monday.

And a familiar face was spotted doing some sightseeing on Sunday ahead of getting down to work.

Actress Maya Rudolph and her family went on the popular excursion of Ireland's Eye, off the coast of Dublin.

The one-hour family-friendly cruise, which is hugely popular with tourists, goes around the island and takes in the local wildlife and scenery of interest. It costs €20 for adults, €10 for teens and €5 for children under 12.

Ireland’s Eye Ferries, which runs the attraction, posted a picture of a casually dressed Maya posing with one of their staff to Instagram and wrote: “We welcomed actor Maya Rudolph and her family on board today as she took a break from filming Disney's Disenchanted.

"They really enjoyed the scenery Howth has to offer."

Maya and her partner, actor Paul Thomas Anderson, have been together since 2001 and she refers to him as her husband.

They have four children 15-year-old Pearl, 11- year-old Lucille, 10-year-old Jack and seven-year-old Ida.

The 48-year-old actress will play the villainous Malvina Monroe in the fantasy musical opposite Amy Adams as Giselle. Upon announcement of her casting, Maya tweeted "What's a good fairy tale without a great villain? I'll see you in Andalasia my pretties...."

While her co-star Patrick Dempsey has been enthusiastically documenting his time on the Emerald Isle, Maya has been very quiet during her time in Ireland and hasn’t posted anything on her social media.

However, she is really enjoying the experience of working on Disenchanted, telling Variety: “Disenchanted is the epitome of what it feels like to be in a school play.

"You know you’re gonna have fun. Sometimes when I’m working on something I love, I kind of pinch myself and go, ‘oh right, this is why I want to do this.’ Just this giddy feeling of putting on a show together, it’s the best possible feeling.”

Disenchanted is due to be released in cinemas next year.
