Discounted leisure memberships announced for North Lanarkshire's over-65s

North Lanarkshire residents aged over 65 can now gain discounted access to the area’s leisure facilities.

The local authority has launched new initiative Active 65, which offers year-long memberships to swimming, fitness classes, health suites and more for the reduced price of £50.

Council leader Jim Logue told Lanarkshire Live: “It’s so important to stay active and social at any age, and this offer provides a great way of doing it.

“Being fit and active can have major benefits for physical and mental health, and we’re committed to helping our residents access affordable and good quality leisure facilities.

“The past year has been difficult for everyone and we know some people might be reluctant to return to indoor activities or feel they aren’t as fit as they were before lockdown started.

“Our fitness teams are ready to welcome people back in a safe environment and give all the support and encouragement needed to get back on track.”

Existing leisure pass members who qualify for the reduced price will have the discount automatically applied; while new members can sign up online or by calling 01236 341 969.
