Discount retailer TK Maxx confirms opening of new Derby Homesense store

TK Maxx has announced an opening date for a new store at a Derby retail park that will sell discounted homeware.

The firm has said that its new Homesense store, created out of part of its existing outlet at the Kingsway Retail Park, will open for business at 10am on Thursday.

The store, which has a floor space of almost 28,000 sq ft, will sell a range of branded homeware and gifts for every room in the house, with discounts of up to 60%.

Products will range from cookware, furniture, lighting and decorative items, to bedding and bathroom accessories, along with gifts and seasonal decor. There will also be a clearance section.

In a statement, TK Maxx said: “Homesense offers shoppers big brands and unique finds at irresistible prices by providing an eclectic and ever-changing mix of branded homeware.

The firm submitted a planning application for new signage at the store this summer (TK Maxx Homesense)

“Savvy Homesense buyers deal directly with brand owners and artisans globally, and work tirelessly to negotiate great deals on quality merchandise.”

More than 50 Homesense stores have opened across the country since the brand was launched more than a decade ago in the UK.

The first indication that TK Maxx was planning to open a Homesense in Derby came when the firm submitted a planning application this earlier summer for new signage for the Kingsway store.

The new Homesense store, which has created 28 jobs, will operate alongside TK Maxx’s existing store, which will continue to sell cut-price fashions.

There has been speculation over the future of the Kingsway TK Maxx store ever since the brand opened another Derby store in Albion Street last year.

TK Maxx has been at the Kingsway Retail Park since 2012, taking over a unit formerly occupied by electricals firm Best Buy. Before then it was a B&Q.
