Discount grocer Heron Foods to open store at former Home Bargains site

Heron Foods, the discount grocery store chain, is set to open its latest Welsh store next week.

The company announced that they’ll be opening a shop at Bayview Shopping Centre in Colwyn Bay next Thursday.

The new Colwyn Bay store will replace the former Home Bargains unit, which relocated in June.

There will be 18 jobs created in both full and part-time roles.

Store manager, Keith Tempest, who has worked at Heron Foods for three years as a duty manager, said: “Staff are working really hard to get the new store ready for opening day later this month.

"I’d personally like to thank colleagues for their efforts as well as our new neighbours who have already shown support. The store will be a great addition to the area.”

Charity CAIS will be officially opening the store and will be given £250 as a thank you from Heron Foods for welcoming the store to the community.

A spokesperson for CAIS said: “We are delighted to have been chosen to open the new Heron Foods store here in Colwyn Bay. At CAIS, we help people who are having problems with addictions, mental health, personal development and employment – as well as offering assistance and information to their families and friends.”
