Discord has rolled out its dedicated app for the Meta Quest, which brings the social networking and VoIP platform to the VR and XR wearable headsets of the company.
Discord Now Runs Natively on Meta Quest Headsets
The Discord app is now available to download directly from the Horizon App Store on Meta Quest headsets, bringing the full platform to VR for the first time in a native format, according to the company.
Since Quest headsets already have a built-in microphone, users can jump straight into Discord voice calls without needing to set up an external device or keep a second screen nearby.
The app supports all existing servers, direct messages, and group conversations, meaning there is no reduced feature set compared to the mobile or desktop versions.
Discord also confirmed that users can keep the app pinned in their playspace while using other VR applications simultaneously. That means players can stay in a Discord call or monitor messages while playing something like "Beat Saber" or hanging out in VRChat, without having to leave either app.
Previously, Quest owners who wanted to use Discord while in VR had to either sideload the app manually or access it through the headset's web browser, neither of which offered a smooth or reliable experience. That changes today with a proper, dedicated release through Meta's Horizon App Store.
Native Discord Features on Quest Platform
Beyond basic messaging and voice calls, the Quest version of Discord supports video calls through Meta Avatars. Users who have set up a personalized Meta Avatar can join Discord video chats and appear as their avatar rather than showing a camera feed.
For those who want to share their VR experience with others, the app also allows users to stream Meta Quest gameplay directly to Discord without needing to route through a browser tab first.
To celebrate the launch, Discord is offering a free month of Nitro to qualifying users who log into the app on their Meta Quest headset for the first time. Nitro unlocks higher quality Go Live streaming, additional customization options throughout Discord, and access to over 50 games through Xbox Game Pass.
Discord noted that an Xbox Game Pass streaming app is also available on Quest, giving Nitro subscribers another way to play games directly through their headset.

Downloading the Discord app on a Meta Quest headset is straightforward. Users can search for Discord directly in the Quest Store from within their headset, or visit discord.com/download to find the link.
Once installed, logging in with an existing Discord account gives immediate access to all servers, messages, and call features without any additional setup required.
This launch extends Discord's platform reach significantly, following previous integrations with PlayStation 5 and Xbox that brought the app to consoles in recent years.
The Meta Quest release now adds VR headsets to that list, covering most of the major gaming platforms where players spend their time.
