'Disaster!' - Dominic Calvert-Lewin hammers VAR call which cost Everton vs Manchester United

Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has hit out at the decision to disallow his effort in injury time during the 1-1 draw at home to Manchester United.

Calvert-Lewin opened the scoring the opener inside three minutes after blocking David de Gea's clearance.

Bruno Fernandes equalised for United with a long-range shot which went underneath Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

But Carlo Ancelotti's men thought they had won the game in injury time when Calvert-Lewin's shot deflected off of Harry Maguire and into the back of the net.

However, VAR ruled out the effort due to the presence of Gylfi Sigurdsson in an offside position, with the midfielder adjudged to have impeded De Gea's sight line.

Calvert-Lewin was interviewed by Sky Sports post-match and he didn't hold back on his opinion.

"That is a disaster. He is not even obstructing the line of sight," Calvert-Lewin told Sky Sports. "In the moment I wasn't sure, but looking back I am now.

"Gylfi is not in the line of sight. For me being a striker, it's a goal. VAR cancels out the emotion at the end, what can you do?"
