A science-fiction themed bar that was set to open in Dublin has withdrawn plans and decided to go elsewhere over what's believed to be "excessive demands" from the city council.
The Cauldron, which describes itself as "broadly inspired by fantasy and science-fiction", will no longer be opening on Francis St and will instead open its second bar in the UK.
Many people had got excited after the popular London geek spot announced its ambitious plans for Dublin - but their fantasy has proved just that as Dublin's Art and Antique Quarter announced the sad news.
They said: "Cauldron is cancelled - the planned business for Francis Street The Cauldron event Bar has withdrawn from plans to open at 101 Francis Street.
"It is believed an excessive amount of ‘red tape’ forced them to change their minds and they are now planning to open a second business in the UK.
"This withdrawal follows the decision of Bonac Gin to cancel their plans at 59 Francis Street due to what many believed was excessive demands from the City Council."
Last January the proposed Bonac Gin Palace at no 59 also saw plans ditched after the owners gave up trying to comply myriad of change requests from the city planners and fire officers.
