Man pulled from wheelchair in hate crime at Bristol pub

A heartless thug pulled a disabled man out of his wheelchair and shouted abuse during a potential hate crime in south Bristol.

The attack took place at the Assembly pub on East Street, Bedminster.

Detectives have now released a CCTV image of a man they would like to trace in connection to the disability hate crime.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police confirmed a man in his 40s was pulled out of his electric wheelchair by the attacker.

The offender also made derogatory comments to the victim who was left with discomfort and pain to his back.

The incident happened in the smoking area of the pub between 7.30pm and 8pm on Sunday, July 21.

A force spokesperson said: "We appreciate the image isn’t the best quality but are still hopeful someone might recognise the man in it.

"If you can help please call 101 and provide the call handler with the reference 5219166843."

You can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers 100 per cent anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their Anonymous Online Form.

No personal details are taken, information cannot be traced or recorded and you will not go to court or have to speak to police when contacting Crimestoppers.
