Disabled couple left housebound after having car tyres slashed

A disabled couple have been left housebound after yobs slashed their car tyres.

Paul and Susan Duncan from Hunts Cross called police after discovering their disability car had been targeted in the early hours of this morning.

The couple’s son CJ, 37, told the ECHO that his dad found two of his tyres had been punctured after he was alerted by his car alarm.

He said: “My dad called the police and they said there was nothing they could do about it as there was no CCTV footage.

“I’m absolutely disgusted about it - this is the second time he’s had damage done to his car.

He added: “He’s now had to pay out £500 to get CCTV installed. It’s ridiculous.”

Until they can get the car's tyres replaced, they are without the means to get out of the house even for essentials, he said.

Adding: “My dad has only just recovered from heart surgery.

“Both of them are really shaken, they don’t know what they’re supposed to do when the police can’t do anything without CCTV footage.

“It makes you so angry when this sort of thing happens to your own parents”.

The ECHO contacted Merseyside Police about the incident.

A spokesperson for the force said they were called out to the address following reports of criminal damage to two tyres of a car.

They said enquiries are being carried out and anyone with information is asked to DM @MerPolCC or @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111 quoting reference 20000291578.
