Disabled Ayrshire Slimming World instructor has shop targeted by vandals

A disabled Ayrshire Slimming World instructor has hit out at vandals who targeted her empty shop.

Tracey-Anne Gardiner, 43, woke up to the news on Sunday morning that her business unit on Troon's Portland Street had its front window smashed overnight leaving a trail of glass inside and lying on the main street.

Luckily the weight-loss leader was planning to leave the unit and not reopen when restrictions allowed, meaning the premises were empty.

Tracey-Anne suffers from a rare condition called parry romberg syndrome which effects her mobility.

She told Ayrshire Live: “The window has been completely smashed, it's clear it's been done on purpose.

“The owner of Spider Monkey contacted me to say that the window had been smashed, it was quite a shock.

“Luckily the place is empty as I am moving the business away to another location, you would maybe expect something like that when the pubs are open, its not nice to deal with for anyone though."

Tracey-Anne said the town was booming after lockdown travel restrictions were lifted over the weekend and claims there were “lots of drunk teenagers”.

She hopes police can use CCTV to try and catch those responsible as other shop-keepers have checked their own cameras to try and help with the investigation.

Tracey-Anne added: “The other shopkeepers have been a great help looking through CCTV that they have got, we are all trying to keep our businesses going during Covid, the last thing you need is property being damaged.”

Police have appealed with anyone with information to contact them as they launch a probe into the vandalism.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "About 10am on Sunday, April 18 police were notified of a vandalism to shop premises in Portland Street, Troon which seemed to have occurred overnight.

"Police enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 1132 of April 18."
