A former judge who was appointed in 2019 as a commissioner for the disability royal commission has resigned for personal reasons.
Retired Queensland Supreme Court justice Roslyn Atkinson was added to the commission for her extensive judicial experience and work in engaging people with disability.
Royal commission chair Ronald Sackville said the inquiry had enormously benefited from Ms Atkinson's work.
"On behalf of all commissioners I wish to express our deep appreciation to Commissioner Atkinson for her invaluable contributions to the work of the royal commission and our regret that she is leaving us," he said in a statement on Friday.
"Commissioner Atkinson's vast knowledge and experience as a practising barrister and judge of the Supreme Court of Queensland, her engagement over many years with people with disability and with First Nations people and her familiarity with complex policy and rights issues have delivered significant insights to the work of the royal commission."
