DisABILITY Resource Center expands operations in Hazard

A resource center for people with disabilities in eastern Kentucky is opening an expanded location in Hazard.

The disABILITY resource center offers free services to people with disabilities across Bell, Harlan, Leslie, Letcher and Perry counties. That includes offering peer support, teaching independent skills and employment programs.

Brenda Noble is the assistant director of the network.

“It's just gratifying to know that what we do here is that we're changing someone's life,” Noble said. “Our mission and our vision is people with disabilities living independent and meaningful lives.”

She said the expansion is to accommodate for the amount of clients it gets.

“We've got over 300 clients,” Noble said. “And the office that we had was just not big enough, and we're going to start doing more in house training. And we needed a bigger space.”

The new location opened Tuesday at 490 Village Lane in Hazard.
