A Merseyside baby scan which was rated 'inadequate' after being "visibly dirty" when inspected has dramatically improved.
Hello Baby, in Thatto Heath, St Helens, was subject to an inspection by the Care Quality Commission in March 2022. Inspectors found that the clinic was "visibly dirty" on arrival, with staff also lacking the "appropriate level of training on how to recognise and report abuse."
It was also noted that the "privacy and dignity" of service users was not always respected by staff at the centre. There were also questions raised about the leadership, with inspectors stating that "leaders did not always demonstrate that they had the skills and abilities to run the service."

Despite this, it was found that members of staff "treated women with compassion and kindness", and inspectors "observed friendly and caring interactions between staff and women".
Overall, the service was branded as "inadequate" in March 2022. However, on a follow up in November 2022, CQC inspectors found that the service had improved dramatically and has now been rated "good".
On this visit, it was noted that staff had received training to "carry out activities relevant to this service to keep people safe". As well as having the tools to "protect women from abuse".
Improvements were also made regarding women's privacy and dignity in the centre, with inspectors stating "Staff treated women with compassion and kindness, respected their privacy and dignity, and helped them understand their keepsake images. They provided emotional support to women, families and carers when this was necessary."
Inspectors also noted the improvement in leadership of the service, with the report stating: "The registered manager ran the service well using reliable information systems and supported staff to develop their skills. Staff understood the service’s vision and values, and how to apply them in their work. Staff felt respected, supported and valued"
Overall the service was branded "good" in November 2022. Hello Baby scan centre was approached for comment
