Authorities have released the name of a man who died after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver last week while riding a dirk bike in Marynook on the South Side.

The biker, Carlos J. Nelson Jr., was struck about about 7:25 p.m. April 26 by a westbound Kia in the 8300 block of South Kimbark Avenue, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

The driver of the Kia fled the scene, according to police.

Nelson, who lived in Chatham, was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said. An autopsy found he died of multiple injuries from the crash and ruled his death an accident.
