Dirt bike rider leads police on chase through streets before getting cornered

Police caught on camera the moment a dirt bike rider led officers on a chase through the streets before being cornered.

The rider was spotted on Edenfield Road, on the outskirts of Bury and Rochdale, driving on the wrong side of the road, along with what appear to be two other dirt bikers, swerving along the roads.

Two of the three dirt bike riders manage to escape, but the remaining man who 'failed to stop' for the police instead led officers on a chase down a narrow residential lane over speed bumps.

But the man sealed his fate when he took a wrong turn into a cul-de-sac with only houses and driveways - with no way out.

Captured in the video released by police, the rider looks around frantically and then appears to be nudged by the police car, knocking him to the ground.

He stands again and appears to try to speak to the officers, but two officers in the car are having none of it.

The video shows one officer pointing what appears to be a weapon at the rider, stowing it away when the man is handcuffed on the ground by a second officer.

The dramatic scenes led to the bike being seized and crushed.

The rider received an £822 fine and eight penalty points, according to Greater Manchester Traffic Police.
