Dirt bike rider, 26, dead and two taken to hospital after crash

A man has died after a crash in Runcorn.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the crash at around 1.20pm, on Friday, September 23. A red and white dirt bike and a black Ford Eco sport were involved in the collision that happened on Halton Brow.

Cheshire police put a cordon in place around the scene as paramedics worked on the injured people involved. An air ambulance landed nearby on a field on Quarry Close behind Boston Avenue.

Officers have confirmed that the pitbike had two men on it, one of which a 26-year-old local man who was taken to Whiston Hospital. He died a short time later.

His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. The other man, aged 23, was also taken to Whiston Hospital for further checks.

The driver of the car, a woman, was taken to hospital for precautionary checks. A spokesperson for the force said: "A number of enquiries are currently underway and road closures remain in place at this time.
