TAMPA, Fla. ? Dirk Koetter was too busy devising a game plan as the Falcons offensive coordinator Monday to reflect much about his three seasons in Tampa Bay as the Bucs head coach.
But before he faces his former team Sunday in Atlanta, Koetter knows there will be time to visit with some former colleagues and maybe avoid a few others.
"I'm sure there will be at the end of the week," Koetter said during his weekly press conference at the Falcons' facility in Flowery Branch, Ga.
"When you start off on Monday, we just got done getting the scouting report and you're looking at the tape and you're worried about getting the game plan together. Working on that, so you don't really have much time to think about it.
"But I'm sure at the end of the week, the worst part of any game is that two hours of waiting at the stadium before the game and obviously you'll see some people that you're fond of and maybe some that you're not."
Koetter, who took over from coach Lovie Smith in 2016, went 9-7 in his first season as the Bucs head coach.
Including serving as offensive coordinator in 2014, Koetter spent four seasons with the Bucs. Following his firing, he was hired for his old job as the Falcons play-caller.
Does Koetter have any bitter feelings about his time with the Bucs?
No. No. It's over, man," Koetter said. "You can't live in the past. I work for the Falcons and it's a great organization. It is what it is at this point. You've just got to move on."
