Directors Damiano and Fabio D'Innocenzo premiere new series Dostoevskij.

Twin directors: Damiano and Fabio D'Innocenzo

Twin directors Damiano and Fabio D'Innocenzo, known for their unique storytelling in films like 'Boys Cry' and 'Bad Tales,' have made a splash with their latest project 'Dostoevskij.' Premiering at the Berlin Film Festival's Berlinale Special section, the six-episode detective series takes viewers on a thrilling journey in the stark Roman hinterland.

Starring Filippo Timi as Enzo Vitello, the story follows a policeman haunted by a traumatic incident involving his daughter. As he investigates a ruthless serial killer named Dostoevskij, the cop is pushed to his limits, uncovering a disturbing existential truth along the way.

For the D'Innocenzo brothers, transitioning to television with 'Dostoevskij' was an exciting challenge. With carte blanche from Sky Studios Italia, they crafted a gripping thriller that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats. The show's creation process was organic, with the directors drawing inspiration from a minimalist approach and dividing the screenplay into three acts, reminiscent of a film structure.

Central to the success of 'Dostoevskij' was the casting of Filippo Timi as Enzo. The actor underwent a physical transformation to embody the tormented investigator, adding depth to the character's portrayal. This attention to detail extended to the show's visual aesthetic, with cinematographer Matteo Cocco capturing the rugged beauty of the Roman landscape.

In a departure from their film work, the D'Innocenzo brothers also collaborated with music superstar Kanye West on a music video project. Impressed by West's work ethic and dedication, they found inspiration in his creative process and energy on set. The result was a poignant video that showcased the bond between a father and his daughter, emphasizing the human connection at its core.

As 'Dostoevskij' makes its mark on the television landscape, it stands as a testament to the D'Innocenzo brothers' storytelling prowess and their ability to captivate audiences across mediums. With a blend of suspense, drama, and existential reflection, the series promises to be a compelling addition to the world of television.
