Director of Skins is launching city-wide exhibition with St Pauls Adventure Playground

A city wide exhibition focusing on “changing times” will be coming to Bristol in September.

Over the last year alone, we’ve experienced the Strike for Climate Justice - led by school children, Brexit becoming official, and more recently, Black Lives Matter brought people into the centre of Bristol and the statue of Edward Colston came down.

And of course, Bristol - and the rest of the world - has been victim to coronavirus.

During these times Bristol based artist and BAFTA award winner, Esther May Campbell and the Playground have partnered up to curate an exhibition and a book.

The photo exhibition, SCRAPBOOK, will be available at St Pauls Adventure Playground between September 4-6 and images will continue to be seen throughout the city centre over the month of September.

The showing marks a big moment for the playground.

In April, an arson attack caused extensive damage was caused to much of the outdoor play equipment at the facility, which is located next to the bottom of the M32, beside St Agnes Church.

The St Paul’s Adventure Playground has been based in the space next to St Agnes Church for many years, and has survived on a shoestring for almost as long.

But, despite all the obstacles the playground have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to capture “why play matters” especially in 2020 - in their new exhibition.

The exhibition presents the risks and joys of throwing oneself into play, discovery and imagination.

The show will be on from Friday 4th: 3 - 7pm, Saturday 5th: 1 - 7pm, Sunday 6th : 1 - 5pm. It will also be available around the city throughout September.
