Director of Leaving Neverland Michael Jackson documentary to speak in Edinburgh

Dan Reed, the director behind the explosive documentary which made allegations of child abuse against Michael Jackson, is due to speak in Edinburgh.

Reed's two-part documentary Leaving Neverland aired on Channel 4 earlier this month.

He will appear in the capital at the Edinburgh TV Festival in August to discuss the documentary, the Daily Record reports.

Leaving Neverland centres on allegations of two men, Wade Robson and James Safechuck, who claimed they were sexually abused by him during their childhood. Jackson's estate has vehemently denied the claims.

Robson, 36, says the abuse with the singer began from age seven after he won a dance competition to meet his idol.

Meanwhile, Safechuck, 40, claims he started being molested by Jackson at the age of eight after meeting on set of a Pepsi commercial, until he was 14.

Jackson even staged a fake wedding where they committed to each other with rings, James claims. In the documentary, his hands shake as he looks at a box full of jewelery that Jackson allegedly gifted him in return for sexual favours.

“It’s still hard for me to not blame myself,” he says.

Director Dan said Jackson's alleged actions were "repugnant" and has revealed that he would make a sequel to the doc if any more of the singer's alleged victims came forward.

He told Vice magazine: “We wanted to focus on James and Wade and their families, who had long relationships with Jackson. I’m sure there are others who will come out when the time is right for them. We’ll see.”
