Director Jim Sheridan puts his Dublin home up for sale for €3.5m

Director Jim Sheridan has confirmed that he is selling his Ballsbridge home for €3.5 million.

The Oscar nominated director said that the stunning Victorian home had become to big for him and his wife.

The ‘In The Name of the Father’ director said that his three daughters no longer live in Ireland so there is no need for such a large home.

He said that he doesn't want to be a victim of ‘empty nest syndrome’ for any longer.

Jim told the Irish Independent: "We have bought an apartment around the corner on the canal so we will still be in the same area. I love the area.

"But the kids are gone, they're in New York and LA so it was just too big for us”

Jim says that the house is a family friendly home in a beautiful location.

He also spoke of how many happy memories it holds for him and his wife.

He said: “It's actually two houses that are for sale. There's the main house and then a little granny flat that comes with it that has planning permission to be re-developed.”

Located on St. Mary’s Road in Ballsbridge, Villa Maria still maintains many of its original qualities along with four bedrooms and bathrooms.

The house is also complete with original floors and fireplaces.
