With 708 kilometres of concrete, barbed wire and military checkpoints, the Israeli West Bank Barrier is more than just the sum of its parts. This politically charged wall has come to symbolise a system of control and segregation, and constitutes an exhausting feature of daily life for Palestinian residents. Ameen Nayfeh has put that reality at the centre of his powerful debut feature film "200 Meters".
The director tells us about the inherent challenges of living and working in the shadow of that wall, and how recent tensions in the West Bank have complicated matters further.
We also discuss the high stakes for Palestinians when it comes to producing and disseminating their artwork, as logistical, financial and diplomatic hurdles slow their endeavours.
