Director Ajay Bhupathi claims Arshad Warsi is 'jealous' of Prabhas; says criticism for 'Kalki 2898 AD' was because 'no one gives you the same attention'

Filmmaker Ajay Bhupathi has taken a strong stance against actor Arshad Warsi following his critical remarks about Prabhas' performance in the sci-fi blockbuster film 'Kalki 2898 AD'.

Bhupathi, known for directing films like 'RX 100' and 'Mangalavaaram', didn't hold back in his brutal response, accusing Warsi of being 'jealous' of the Telugu superstar. In a recent post on X, Bhupathi praised Prabhas for his contributions to Indian cinema, stating, "Prabhas is the man who has given everything and will do anything to take Indian Cinema to the world audience, a Pride of our nation."

The director's post came shortly after Warsi criticised Prabhas during a podcast interview with 'Unfiltered with Samdish', where he shared his disappointment with Prabhas' character portrayal in the film. While praising Amitabh Bachchan's role as Ashwatthama, Warsi questioned Prabhas' performance, saying, "Prabhas, I am really sad, why was he like a joker? Why? I want to see Mad Max. I want to see Mel Gibson over there. What have you made it, I can never understand why they would do such things."

Bhupathi fired back implying that Warsi's criticism stemmed from jealousy and need for attention. He said, "We can see the jealousy in your eyes for Prabhas and 'Kalki'. Maybe it's because no one gives you the same attention anymore. There's a limit and a way to express our opinion... Seems like you're the one that you've said about him."

'Kalki 2898 AD', directed by Nag Ashwin and starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan, has been a major success at the box office, becoming one of the highest-grossing films of the year. A sequel to the film is already in the works. According to reports, the director has just a few action sequences to shoot before he releases the film in 2026.

The film is now set to release on OTT on August 22 in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.
