New details about Big Splash sale revealed as website launches

A new website has been launched for Big Splash updates, on behalf of the owners.

The Macquarie water park is for sale by expressions of interest, closing at 3pm on Wednesday, July 22.

The new website makes clear "there are no redevelopment plans associated with the site or its sale".

"The site is under the control of the first mortgagee. As financiers - not pool operators - their mandate is to sell the site as a going concern to recover their investment to date," it stated.

Project information and updates relating to Big Splash were previously published on the website for consultants Purdon.

Purdon said on Tuesday that a dedicated website had now been established and "will be the primary source for all future site information and updates".

The new website is "being coordinated by the mortgagees in possession and the sales agents".

The website is at bigsplashupdates.com.au

It lists "key facts" around the future of the Big Splash site and reiterated that the November 1 re-opening date still applies to the new owner of the lease.

"Effort is focused on making the main pool operational by 1 November 2026, in line with public commitments and Access Canberra's conditions."

"The site is now listed for sale as is, with listings live on all major property portals. The slides and existing buildings will not be demolished. There are no redevelopment plans associated with the site or its sale."

"The site is under the control of the first mortgagee. As financiers - not pool operators - their mandate is to sell the site as a going concern to recover their investment to date".

"The current lease obligations will apply to any purchaser. Reopening work continues in parallel with, and regardless of, the sale timetable."

The website also includes a FAQ section.

The owner, Translink Management Group, had previously expressed an interest in redeveloping the site.

The sale is being managed by Colliers.
