Direct train service between Glasgow Central and Liverpool to begin in December

Rail passengers in Glasgow will soon be able to enjoy the first direct train service to Liverpool.

The Liverpool Echo are reporting that TransPennine Express will begin operating the service between Liverpool Lime Street and Glasgow Central on a three-a-day service.

And that means that passengers travelling between Scotland's biggest city and Merseyside will no longer have to stop and change at either Wigan or Preston as it currently the case.

Back in March, a spokesperson for TransPennine Express told the Independent: “We are fully committed to bringing in a new direct service between Liverpool and Glasgow as soon as we can in during autumn 2019."

No specific date has been confirmed for the launch, but it will be some time in December.
