Dire Mebude signs first professional contract at Manchester City after leaving Rangers

Former Rangers youngster Dire Medbude has signed his first professional contract at Manchester City.

The 17-year-old - whose big brother Dapo was also one of the Ibrox club's most promising youth players - joins the Premier League giants after the two clubs reached an agreement for a compensation fee last September.

Mebude initially joined up with the City youth side at the club's plush Etihad campus but the pacy striker has now graduated to the senior ranks, with the Gers set to benefit further down the line after a number of clauses were inserted in the deal.

Both Mebude brothers have now departed Ibrox permanently after Dapo announced his decision to pursue his career elsewhere last month, and the 19-year-old has since been linked with a move to Premier League new boys Watford on a free transfer.

Such departures are becoming more and more common for both halves of the Old Firm in recent seasons, with Gers cherrypicked by Chelsea for the transfer of Billy Gilmour several seasons ago, and Bayern Munich snapping up Liam Morrison and Barry Hepburn from Celtic.
