Diptyque to launch scented jewellery and temporary tattoos

You’re used to spritzing, but what if you could stick or pin on your favourite fragrance in the morning?

Come September, Diptyque will launch a new collection called Prêts-à-Parfumer, offering three innovative new ways for you to scent yourself: stickers, a brooch and a bracelet.

The Instagram generation has very much embraced Diptyque’s scented candles and beautiful packaging as part of their #lifestyle content, and the soon-to-launch wearable fragrances represent a clever new way to court the selfe generation.

The perfumed stickers cost £40 for a kit of five (in the same fragrance), and are much like the temporary tattoos you probably loved as a teenager. They come in three graphic, baroque designs and are available in the Do Son, Eau Rose and l’Ombre dans l’Eau scents. Made of matte satin, the sticker can be applied and reapplied as you please and its concentrated fragrance is designed to be slow-released throughout the day.

In addition to the temporary tattoos, which will no doubt provide perfect fodder for many an arty Insta post, the brand has also diversified into scent-infused jewellery.

A gold-plated bird brooch costs £84 and comes with two perfumed ceramics (in Do Son, Eau Rose or Fleur de Peau) which can be inserted at the rear. Harking back to the wooden birds that once inhabited the House’s original boutique, the bird is, according to Diptyque “a perfumed ornament inspired by Renaissance pomanders’ scented jewellery shaped to suit the tastes of the day.”

There’s also an adjustable perfumed bracelet made of black and white braided thread with a gold plated clasp that costs £64 and is available in Eau Rose, Tam Dao and Do Son. The touch of the thread on your skin triggers the bracelet to release an “intense olfactory thrill.”

The new products, and the tattoos in particular, are a way for consumers to identify themselves as “part of the Diptyque community,” Julien Gommichon, president of the Americas for Diptyque told WWD. “It’s part of our DNA and heritage to create playful new perfume gestures.”

The new Diptyque jewellery and perfume will be available from diptyqueparis.co.uk from September 2.
