Dion Sanderson linked with Sheffield United move after successful Sunderland spell

Premier League strugglers Sheffield United are keeping a close eye on Dion Sanderson, according to reports.

Football Insider claims to have been told by a recruitment source that the Blades have been tracking the Wolves loanee who has impressed during his time on loan at the Stadium of Light.

Sanderson played a bit-part role on Wearside prior to Lee Johnson's arrival and but looked assured when he did feature.

An injury crisis on Wearside has led to Sanderson's increased playing time and he's grasped it with both hands.

His fine form has made him a fan-favourite in a short period of time and Johnson said that he would be keen to sign the defender permanentl y if his parent club were willing to sell.

The Sunderland head coach paid tribute to his "Rolls Royce" attributes in the Black Cats most recent game with Crewe.

The Black Cats fought off Cardiff City and Swansea City in the summer to acquire his services for the season.

Sanderson had been linked with a move back to the Bluebirds in January, where he spent the majority of last season, but Johnson Wolves assurances that he would be given game time throughout the course of the season.

It's understood that the 23-year-old is enjoying life on Wearside and has looked like a wise head on young shoulders in the heart of defence.
