Diogo Jota wants to fulfill childhood dream with Liverpool

Diogo Jota has opened up on his childhood dream to win the Champions League.

The Liverpool attacker has played in the European Cup before while plying his trade for Porto in 2016/17, though believes he has a much better chance of lifting the trophy with the Reds this term.

Juventus knocked out Porto that season, Jota scoring just once in eight appearances.

This season for the Reds, the Portugal international has provided four goals and one assist in seven appearances - making his mark in Europe's elite competition.

“I’ve always had this dream since I was a child. And although I had already participated in the competition with FC Porto, you never have the same ambitions than a club like Liverpool have in the competition, obviously,” Jota told RTP as per SportWitness.

“The Champions League is a knock-out competition, I think anything can happen, and obviously much of our attentions is focused there and the possibility of going far in the event.”

Jota was also asked if he wanted to face Porto in the quarter-finals but the 24-year-old is not keen on such a prospect.

He added: “Honestly no. I think not.

"Because although Liverpool had a recent victorious victory, I think that when they had Porto ahead of them, they managed to overtake, I think it’d be a very complicated and very emotional game for me, and I’d rather have another team.

“But in the final, yes. I’d agree already.”

Liverpool will find out on Friday who they will face in the last eight of the Champions League as the draw takes place at 11am.
