Diogo Jota relished his role as Liverpool villain as he continued his hot streak against Arsenal.
The Portugal star scored the decisive goal at the Emirates with the game on the line to boost the Reds' title chances. The Gunners were in the ascendancy after a brilliant first half, but Liverpool do what great teams do as they soaked up that pressure and hit Mikel Arteta's men with a sucker punch.
Jota made it seven goals from seven games in a red shirt against Arsenal to open the scoring before Roberto Firmino wrapped up the three points for the Merseyside club with a 2-0 victory.
There were plenty of big talking points from tonight's game. Here are a few you might have missed.
Odegaard roar
Martin Odegaard has been in the form of his life for Arsenal and the Emirates crowd expected him to do something every time he was on the ball against Liverpool.
They showed their appreciation for the Norwegian with his first touch of the game as the fans let out a massive roar. Liverpool were unable to quieten the support as Arsenal fans got behind their team for the rest of the match.
It was a brilliant atmosphere and Arsenal fans were playing their role as the 12th man. Odegaard, in particular, thrived off it and continued his impressive play.
Martinelli outduels Trent
Gabriel Martinelli has been a revelation this season but he had one of his toughest tests yet up against Trent Alexander Arnold. But he passed it with flying colours as he caused the Liverpool right-back all sorts of problems.
The Brazilian's pace was difficult for Alexander-Arnold to deal with, especially in the first half and the Reds' impact at the other end of the pitch was curtailed as a result. The defender had to respect Martinelli's speed and couldn't make his usual attacking runs in case he was caught out by an Arsenal counter.
Arsenal fans noticed Martinelli was getting plenty of joy from Alexander-Arnold and relishing the fact their youngster was not out of place against one of the world's best at his position. A tough day at the office for Trent.
Xhaka outburst
Granit Xhaka was in trouble the last time he faced Liverpool as he was sent off in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final. And he was involved with the referee once again after a foul on Fabinho.
Arsenal players hounded Andre Marriner as he awarded Jurgen Klopp's men a free-kick in what they thought was a soft decision. The Brazilian was dispossessed in his own half in what was going to spring a promising attack for the hosts, but to the Gunners' dismay, the whistle was blown.
Xhaka wouldn't let it go however as he pleaded with Marriner putting his hands together in a praying motion. The Swiss international was in danger of talking himself into a booking but his Arsenal players held him back to avoid that possibility.
Klopp rant at fourth official
Jurgen Klopp also had a go at the officials. This time it was the fourth official who got the brunt of it as the Liverpool boss fumed at Andy Madley.
Sadio Mane was bundled over by Cedric Soares as he chested the ball forward, but Marriner didn't feel it warranted a free-kick. Klopp went beserk on the touchline and it was Madley who was on the receiving end of it.
The German wouldn't let it lie even after play had resumed but it was all for nothing, the decision was already made. Arsenal fans got on the back of Marriner from that point on and felt Liverpool got the majority of the decisions.
Jota gesture to Arsenal fans
Diogo Jota loves playing against Arsenal. The winger had scored six in six for Liverpool heading into tonight's game and he made it seven from seven with a powerful opener.
The winger was brilliantly found by Thiago and took it in his path expertly before unleashing a left-footed strike at Aaron Ramsdale's near post. The Arsenal keeper will be disappointed he didn't keep it out given his form this season, but he just couldn't get down quick enough and get a strong enough hand on it.
Jota celebrated in front of the Liverpool fans before turning towards the Arsenal support on the left of him as they gave him pelters. The Portugal star appeared to relish it as he continued to keep his hand on the air as he let his emotions out.
Jota was subbed off straight away, along with Luis Diaz, for Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino and he looked slightly dejected that he couldn't build on his goal. But it was job done for him and he quickly came to that realisation as Klopp patted him on the back as he came off.
