Diogo Jota reveals Liverpool dressing room reaction as remarkable club record in sight

Liverpool forward Diogo Jota insists the dressing room aren't thinking about any potential records.

The Reds equalled a club record in midweek when they beat Atletico Madrid 2-0 in the Champions League to extend their unbeaten run to 25 games.

The club record, previously set by Bob Paisley's brilliant Liverpool side in 1982, could be beaten should Jurgen Klopp's Reds win or draw against West Ham United at the London Stadium on Sunday.

Jota, however, says the team are focusing only on winning the next match, but such stats are a good indicator of how well they are doing.

"I don’t think [we’re thinking about it]," the Portugal international told the club website. "There are always interesting stats, but in the end all we want is to win the next game and the next game.

"Obviously, those kind of markers are always helpful to show us we’re doing the right things.

"It’s a big club with a big history, so it’s not easy to do special things – things that haven’t been done before.

"We have a chance in the next few games to establish a good mark for a long time. I think it’s a good opportunity and it’s up to us to take it."

Liverpool remain the only unbeaten team in the Premier League so far this season, but four draws mean they are currently three points off Chelsea at the top of the table.
