Diogo Jota 'not chilling on Liverpool sidelines' as he pushes Jurgen Klopp into big decision

Diogo Jota’s impressive start at Liverpool is forcing Jurgen Klopp to make him a regular starter because the Reds new boy is not content with “chilling on the sidelines” reckons Rio Ferdinand.

After capturing their first League Championship in 30 years, Liverpool bolstered their squad with the signings of Thiago Alcantara, Jota and Kostas Tsimikas.

But whereas the much-heralded Spanish midfielder’s early months at Anfield have been hampered by injury, the Portuguese surprise package’s goal in the 1-1 draw at Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday was his ninth in 14 games.

HITC quotes Ferdinand, who won six Premier League titles with Liverpool’s old foes Manchester United, as declaring on his YouTube channel : “Mr Jota does it again.

“He is on absolute fire. What a find he is.

“Not a steal at £40 million, but still not many people saw him as a player coming to Liverpool and being someone who’s contending for those starting positions.

“Not coming in and being a role player and chilling on the sidelines. Getting 10 minutes here and half an hour there.

“He’s pushing for a starting position given his output of goals.

“Comes in. Bang! Looks confident. The team look like they love him being there. Who wouldn’t?

“Five goals in five starts in the Premier League.”
