Diogo Jota: Liverpool comes together as team-mates and 'heartbroken' Jurgen Klopp honour forward

Diogo Jota’s Liverpool team-mates have paid emotional tributes to the forward.

Jurgen Klopp has said he is “heartbroken”, while fans have laid flowers outside Anfield to honour Jota following his death in a car crash.

Jota and his brother Andre Silva died in a crash in Spain in the early hours on Thursday morning.

His Liverpool team-mates Darwin Nunez and Stefan Bajcetic have led the tributes to the 28-year-old.

Nunez was the first Liverpool player to post a tribute, posting on Instagram to say: “There are no words to comfort you for so much pain. I will always remember you with your smile, as a good teammate on and off the field.

“I send all my strength to your family, from where I am sure he will always be with you, especially your wife and three children. RIP Diogo and Andre.”

Bajcetic posted: “You will be remembered, my friend.'

Jota’s former Liverpool manager Klopp said: “This is a moment where I struggle! There must be a bigger purpose! But I can’t see it!

“I’m heartbroken to hear about the passing of Diogo and his brother André. Diogo was a not only a fantastic player, but also a great friend, a loving and caring husband and father!

“We will miss you so much! All my prayers, thoughts and power to Rute, the kids, the family, the friends and everyone who loved them! Rest in peace - Love.”

Liverpool fans have left flowers and tributes to Jota outside Anfield, where deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner also laid a floral tribute.
