Diogo Jota, who could make his first Premier League start at Anfield since signing for Liverpool tonight as the Reds take on Sheffield United, has already been impressing his teammates in training.
That is according to Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian, who is likely to start in goal this evening with Alisson Becker likely not to be fit again just yet.
Adrian told Liverpool's official website : "He's impressive, he's doing really well. From the first moment he came into the team, he's showing the quality, the pace that he has, the intensity, the dribbling, shooting.
"He's a hard worker and it's a good compliment to our players. I think he showed in the last few games that he played, he's in a great level. So he's going to help us a lot."
Adrian also explained why he feels that Fabinho is a natural option for Jurgen Klopp to turn to with Virgil van Dijk set to be out for the majority, if not the entirety, of the season.
On Fabinho, who has been slotting in at centre-back this season and will have to continue doing so with Van Dijk injured, Adrian added: "I was expecting that performance [against Ajax] from Fabi. He's a top player, top players adapt to the position.
"It's not a new thing for him because he played before in that position last season, even at Monaco [he] played a few times in that position.
"He has enough quality to play there. We have other players in that position that can do this on different occasions. The young players are doing really well in training as well. I think we are well covered to face the next few games."
Fabinho also played in the centre of the defence against Chelsea in the Premier League earlier in the season.
With the knock sustained to Thiago Alcantara in the Merseyside derby not as serious as some feared - the Spaniard could be back in the team from the start this evening - the urgency to move the Brazilian back into midfield is lessened.
