Diogo Jota absence explained as Jurgen Klopp expects triple Liverpool boost

Jurgen Klopp says he expects to have Alisson Becker, Fabinho and Diogo Jota all back for Liverpool's visit from Chelsea on Thursday.

Jota hasn't featured since December after hurting his knee in the Champions League draw with Midtjylland but was back in training on Wednesday at the AXA Centre.

The Portugal international travelled with the squad for Sunday's 2-0 win at Sheffield United, but was left out of the game after complaining of illness overnight.

Jota was dispatched back to Merseyside and Fabinho sat out the match through injury as Kean Bryan own goal and Curtis Jones strike gave the champions the points at Bramall Lane.

Alisson was left out on compassionate grounds following the death of his father in Brazil this week, but Klopp is hopeful of a triple boost for Liverpool's huge game against Chelsea at Anfield.

"Alisson and Fabinho, I am pretty sure [they can play]," Klopp said.

"With Diogo, he was with us last night in the hotel, but he got sick overnight and we had to send him home.

"So it will depend how quickly he recovers, obviously.

"He wasn't in the squad, but he's trained with the team before [this week] and looked really good, like I said before.

"I think he will be available but I don't know."

Klopp added: "I would think that Diogo is ready for Thursday, but I don't know at the moment.

"Fabinho trained twice with the team and should be pretty close for the squad, I am sure. That is it pretty much."
