Diogo Dalot sends message to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after Manchester United return

Diogo Dalot has told Ole Gunnar Solskjaer he is just waiting for an opportunity to impress for Manchester United after coming off the bench at Anfield on Sunday.

Dalot has endured an injury-ravaged campaign, with hip and groin injuries restricting him to just five appearances for United this term.

The 20-year-old came on as a late substitute in United's defeat by Liverpool over the weekend and could feature prominently in the second half of the season.

Dalot's chances of playing more regularly were boosted by Ashley Young's transfer to Inter Milan earlier in the month, while an injury to Marcus Rashford could open up an opportunity for him to establish himself in a more advanced role in the team.

“It was a tough two months for me," Dalot told manutd.com after going nearly three months without an appearance between October 6 and January 4.

"Unfortunately, I got an injury I wasn’t expecting. But I’ve been working hard for this moment and I’m ready to go again.

“For a player to be out injured and not be able to help the team, especially when the results are not so good it’s the worst moment for a player.

"And you’re just focused on recovering as fast as you can and that’s what I made sure I did this time. I took my time to get fit and now I’m just waiting for the opportunity."
