Diogo Dalot praises two Manchester United players after FA Cup victory over Everton

Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot praised Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw following his side's 3-1 victory over Everton in the FA Cup third round.

United started brilliantly and took the lead after four minutes as Rashford's superb cross was steered in by Antony. The game swung back into the balance after a bizarre mistake by David de Gea at his front post allowed Everton defender Conor Coady to tap home.

After the restart, more clever play from Rashford caused chaos for the Toffees with the Englishman's tempting cross being turned into his own net by Coady. The Reds secured progression to the fourth round deep in stoppage time as United's Man of the Match, Rashford, converted a penalty following a foul on Alejandro Garnacho.

Post-match, Dalot was asked about the impact of Rashford and the Portuguese full-back made a strong claim about the forward. He told beIN SPORTS : "I don't think Rashy is very far from one of the best players in the world so I think he is aiming for that.

"He's taking that responsibility of putting us on another level but I think it also comes from what we are doing collectively and then the individuals will come out. Not just Rashy but everyone is doing a great job collectively.

"Rashy has been fantastic." Dalot then added: "I think Rashy is getting stronger, mentally he is getting a little bit more mature as well for a player who is still young.

"It has been a joy to watch him but like I said I think collectively we are doing a great job and I think we are helping him to develop." Another player Dalot was asked about was his defensive partner Shaw.

His fellow full-back has slipped seamlessly into centre-back in recent weeks as United found themselves short in that position post-World Cup. Asked about his impact there, Dalot said: "I think it just goes to show the quality we have in this squad.

"Being able to play different positions, even during the game being able to play different roles, I think it is important for us. I think it is something that the manager likes and demands from us so it is also good for everyone.

"[It] gives us other options so I think Luke is doing a fantastic job and we are very happy with him."
