Diogo Dalot has piled the pressure on Manchester United 'underdog' Fred after he scored the first goal of the Ralf Rangnick era at Old Trafford.
The Brazilian midfielder shone for United at the weekend and netted the only goal of the game in their 1-0 win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
Fred has arguably been United's best performer in recent weeks and is being tipped for a standout role playing as part of Rangnick's high-pressing midfield set-up.
The Brazil international stole the show with his excellent goal to secure the three points on Sunday afternoon and after the match teammate Dalot praised Fred for his commitment to the team.
"He is the underdog," the Portuguese full-back told MUTV. "Everybody can criticise him but he keeps his head clean, he goes inside the pitch and every game he gives everything that he has - that is what this club is about.
"Even if you lose a ball, even if you lose a shot on goal you are always going to try next and you are always going to fight for the team. That's what we want.
"Players like that are what we want."
Fred's goal made it the perfect start for German coach Rangnick at Old Trafford but after the game Dalot downplayed just how much has changed since he took charge.
He added: "It is difficult to change anything in two or three days. I mean we have to have our self motivation as well to come to these games and fight for the club, fight for the fans.
"The last two or three games we had good results so we wanted to keep the momentum. The fans have done a lot especially these last two games at home. We want to keep going, we want to keep winning and hopefully with clean sheets."
