Dingo pups on display in WA's South West

The pups cut a striking figure among the other residents at the wildlife park.

A wildlife park in WA's South West has welcomed some new arrivals, two pure-bred Alpine dingo puppies.

The pair, one male and one female, arrived at the Bunbury Wildlife Park just over a week ago and carers said they had adapted well to their new enclosure.

The three-month-old dingoes certainly were not shy when visited by the media today, with the new puppies happily running up to the cameras and enjoying the attention.

City of Bunbury tourism manager Isabell Evans said the puppies were so comfortable in their new enclosure that they were ready to meet the public sooner than expected.

"They're so happy and friendly and responsive to our keepers" she said.

The park had been preparing for its new arrivals for a year, but Ms Evans said it was worth the wait.

She said dingo puppies had proven to be a major drawcard in other wildlife parks across the country.

"They're such an iconic Australian species; they're something that's not on display in the South West, but it's a species that is quite misunderstood," she said.

A competition was held with local primary school students to name the dingoes but the names are yet to be released.
