Diners offered free meals after city centre hit by power cut

Customers at a city centre restaurant have been given their meals for free after being plunged into darkness.

It comes as hundreds of homes and businesses have been left without lights or heating this evening.

Electricity distributor Western Power said 380 buildings have been left without electricity following an outage at around 7:15pm.

A customer at Zaza Bazaar, on Canon's Road sent Bristol Live mobile phone footage of the restaurant which is still full of diners.

The man, who wished not to be named,  said: "The waiter informed us that they would not charge for a meal. And we can stay in the restaurant as much as we want

"Everyone is still in the restaurant."

Electricity distributor Western Power said 380 buildings have been left without electricity following an outage at around 7:15pm.

The company estimates electricity supplies should be restored around 9pm.
