Diners 'gutted' as Wales' AA restaurant of the year closes suddenly

It was one of the top rated restaurants in Wales and had people travelling for miles to try its food.

But now diners have been left 'gutted' after The Machine House in Rossett, Wrexham, closed suddenly on the weekend.

Chef Kevin Lynn took on the restaurant three years ago and has built up an enviable reputation for his food.

It has been included in the Michelin Guide and was last year named AA Restaurant of the Year (Wales) 2018–19 .

But Kevin took to social media last week to reveal that Saturday night would be their last service - sparking an outpouring of messages from disappointed customers, reports the Daily Post .

Following the service, Kevin and the Team wrote on Facebook: "Wow what can I say apart from 'thank you', it's been a huge pleasure.

"I've had an amazing journey meeting so many amazing people who have become great friends and almost like family.

"You guys made this such an enjoyable experience for me, I will never forget this and what we have achieved here.

"A big MASSIVELY THANK YOU and goodbye for now.

"Hopefully we will see you again."

On Twitter, Kevin added: "Thank you Wales, you have been amazing."

In response, one customer, wrote: "Absolutely gutted to hear this. Good luck in the future!"

Another said: "Gutted to hear this Kevin. A huge loss to the food scene - we're so sorry to hear the news."

The Daily Post has asked the chef if he wants to comment further on the reason for the closure.

The chef had built up the Machine House's reputation as a "casual dining" location with incredible tasting menus.

Handing the bistro the Top Restaurant award last year, an AA Inspector said of Machine House: "With its sturdy oak beams, bare stone and whitewashed walls, the setting may speak of another era, but the modern British cooking in this intimate restaurant is bang up to date.

"The kitchen has strong supply lines to outstanding local producers, then dials the flavours up to 11 in lively, sharply executed dishes.”
