Dinamo Zagreb have completed a signing ahead of their Europa League clash with Tottenham on Thursday.
It's been a difficult week for the Croatian club as they prepare for more Europa League action, having lost manager Zoran Mamic after he was sentenced to nearly five years in prison by the Croatian supreme court after being found guilty of fraud alongside his brother and former Dinamo executive director Zdravko.
"The Supreme Court has confirmed the Osijek Municipal Court's verdict sentencing Zdravko Mamic to six and a half years of imprisonment for the embezzlement of 116 million kuna ($18.26 million) from Dinamo football club," said a statement published by HRT.
"Zoran Mamic's sentence has been reduced to four years and eight months from four years and 11 months."
Following the verdict, Mamic released a statement via the Dinamo website confirming his exit: "Although I do not feel guilty, as I announced earlier, if the verdict is final, I accept it as such and resign from the position of head coach and sports director of GNK Dinamo."
Damir Krznar has since taken over and he has already overseen an impressive capture with the very highly-rated Matteo Tonon signing for Zagreb.
The 16-year-old comes from AC Milan where he was a captain for one of the youth teams at San Siro, also previously representing Italy at the under-15 level.
Zagreb do have history of landing impressive youngsters having signed now Spain international Dani Olmo at a young age from Barcelona.
Olmo has gone on to join Bundesliga giants RB Leipzig on a deal worth around £20million last year.
Tottenham are 2-0 up against Zagreb ahead of their away second leg on Thursday, and even if he does make the first team, new playmaker Tonon will not be eligible for the game.
